On Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 the unveiling of a historical marker in memory of the Shenandoah County Farm and Alms House was unveiled in Maurertown. The Alms House, where the Alliance provided services for the homeless for 25 years, was destroyed by fire in April 2014. The marker includes a brief history of the County Farm and Alms House, built in 1829. The Alms House provided shelter for those in need until it’s destruction. The dedication was also a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Alliance. Visitors may see the historical marker at the Shenandoah County Park on Rt. 11 in Maurertown. Once in the park, there are directional signs to the marker.  Go here to read the wording on the marker
