Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter is now accepting applications for a part-time (25-30 hours a week) position for a grant funded program titled “Centralized Housing Intake Coordinator” for the Western Virginia Continuum of Care which provides prevention, emergency, transitional, and permanent housing, and other services to address homelessness in the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren, the towns within those counties, and the cities of Winchester and Harrisonburg.
This position requires an energetic and positive professional to respond to a high volume of client calls while screening for program eligibility and making appropriate referrals for service. The position requires significant data entry and the ability to maintain a complex database. This is a very fast-paced position and requires excellent time-management skills, and the ability to work both alone and as part of a team. Additionally, the CHI Coordinator will be required to conduct outreach and maintain relationships with area non-profits/governmental agencies providing services to homeless families and individuals.
The position will require some face to face interaction with clients and the public. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to multi-task, problem solve, adapt to change, and demonstrate a willingness to take on additional duties when required. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer applicant with experience in a social service or mental health related fields, or at least 3 years direct experience in social work/mental health or shelter services. Bi-lingual candidates are preferred, but not required.

Pay rate is commensurate with experience.
